2011 in a nutshell
i haven't been on blogspot in the longest time.

so much has been happening that i haven't been able to blog about.

mostly because i haven't had access to the internet though :(

but i'm back! so here's a post on

what i've been up to since '11 started!

theme parks with friends!

CFBC Youth Retreat at the Alura's residence in upland, where we ate delicious food, played kickball, danced, played board games, jam sessions, and talked about the upcoming year!

and finally...the most recent event (happened today):

getting asked to prom! =]

and on top of all of that, i've had CFBC musical practices, infusion practices, debut practices for friends, and so much more that's happened..i can't even remember :( but i feel like i've done a lot already and the year isn't even half way through! i've been pretty busy, but i love it. and yes, it does get tiring, but God gives me the strength to keep going!

I'm loving 2011!

Today, I went to the Alex Theatre in Glendale and watched

Screwtape Letters

and it was GREAT.

"The play, set in a eerily stylish office in hell, follows the clever scheming of Satan's chief pyschiatrist, Screwtape, as he entices a human 'patient' toward damnation. In this topsy-turvy, morally inverted universe God is the “Enemy” and the Devil is “Our Father below.” The stakes are high as human souls are hell's primary source of food."

one of my favorite parts of the whole play:

the statement that humans normally think demons place

thoughts or ideas in our heads

when actually, one of their greatest weapons is keeping things out.

if you ever get the chance to

2010: the year i...

(these are my end-of-the-year reflections...i'm a bit late..)

2010 was the year that i...

-first passed out (twice)

-spent my birthday at Prom (my first time going!)

-became a nomad: i would frequently be asked "are you going home?"
and i'd literally have no idea whose home they were referring to.

-made many new friends but lost a few others.

-the year i started discipleship with ate aarika and lidia

-the year that i regained my love for hometown buffet

-the year i first joined infusion

-the year i first served as part of the VBS staff

-the year i faced many changes within my family life.

but with changes in my family came the realization of how blessed i am to have my church family

-started a small group/bible study at school with Eric Reyes.
-the year that the horse joke first started

-the year i finally got around to learning guitar (quite recently actually)

-got straight bangs for the first time since kindergarten

-finished my first semester as a senior!

-the year i first fell into deep like with a boy who ended up moving cities
(it didn't end too well either)
-the year i got pulled over by the police with a few friends.
-the year that i tried to turn away from Christ

-the year that Christ brought me to my knees so i had no where else to turn but Him.

-the year that came with soo many trials
-but soo many more blessings.

BACK TO BLOGGING

and i'm definitely back and excited to blog about whatever

comes my way in the upcoming year (my graduation year)!

Summer vacation is over!

SENIOR YEAR IS HERE!

it's hard to believe that i'm already in my last year of high school.

after this, it's off to college! this is all so crazy & fast.

but this last month of summer has been pretty busy!

1. waking up every morning at 5'o clock am for VBS

to serve God & kids through singing, dancing, & teaching them the Gospel.

it was my first year being a part of VBS staff.

along with my sister in Christ, Melissa Huynh!

it was a great experience to teach and helping the preschool class. they're all crazy -if you look at the above picture, you can see Mei-Mei, the little girl, licking my hand! i've grown to love those little kids so much!

2. two nights at the Angel Stadium for Harvest Crusade.

a gathering of so many believers, and new believers who gave their life to Christ.

a night of praise and worship.

3. Sleeping over at Melissa's house for the first time after spending so much time at the Reyei residence!

it was an interesting night of horrible cooking, sharing a couch, and getting kicked in the face (while waking up to Mr. Huynh laughing at how i got kicked in the face).

4. one of the chillest days i've had in awhile with a lot of my friends!

i loved having most of us back together and hanging out as a group, playing games at puente hills mall, adventuring over to Galster Park (& discovering a new trail), and calling it a night at the Heights

(in which our promise was made)!

5. Hanging out a whole bunch with some of my favorite people after tiring days at choir camp

which consisted of going to Quickly, Cocary, and Joanna's house after.

6. Annual CFBC Beach trip!

Games: biggest hole & steal the bacon

Reyes brothers against each other, Jeremy vs. me, Lidia & I getting tackled.

obstacle course - breaking Derek's winning streak of iron gut, chugging down a bottle of green tea.

i think the most about everything at nighttime
i realized that i don't like being left alone in the dark. especially outside.
my room is very dark though. my friends call it the "bat cave".
i am almost always craving wings from BWW, wingstop, and even wendy's boneless wings!
i get lazy to upload this blog but i need to post about: VBS, Harvest Crusade, sleeping over at Melissa's house, and Galaster park (part two).
school is starting soon, i can't believe i'm going to be a senior!
i realized how close i was to so many people, and how i've drifted from most of them!
i miss a lot of people =(

Wednesday, July 21

Joanna woke me up telling me to be ready at 10:30 because we're going to the OC Fair with her, Ron, April, Margiel, Kathleen, Santi, and Jan. I ended up getting picked up waaay later, so i stayed on the phone with Joanna while I made sandwiches to pack for the both of us.

stopped by the 99cents store & bought 5 canned goods so we could get free admission

We finally got there, and decided to ride Tango.

April and Kathleen were first because we got cut off in the line.

then it was the rest of our turns!

it was so fun!! Margiel looks like he's flying!

afterwards, we walked around for awhile.

banana and a monkey!

saw a free 3D show called Al's Brain

saw some creepy-crawlers. and even touched a snake!

we all got serenaded one by one by a quartet! =)

Afterwards, we headed back to Santi's house. I knocked out in the car.

we pretty much had jam sessions for the rest of the night =)

July 20 - El Monte + Movies

Joanna and Kathleen chilled at my "batcave" for a bit.
ate at the place we always go to when we're together: Class 302
chilled at Rowland Park where we played a game on that spinning circle.
drove to El Monte to Big Jose's to get our ear piercings. Met up with Sohee.
Puente Hills Mall afterwards and watched Inception (GOOD MOVIE)
went back home. chilled in my room for a bit, and then they left.

July 17 - July 19

what a great way to kick off the start of my actual summer!

(since i've had summer school)

prepared ourselves for the long car ride with coconut juices,

bagels with cream cheese, and our pillows.

Goodbye Cali! Hello Nevada!

Here's our hotel: Mandalay Bay!

in the hotel room!

those smiles are from genuine laughter resulting from

the confusion of her mom's counting: "1...2...3...3...2...1!"

we explored the shops of the hotel, and even got

a little something from Urban Outfitters

we explored the rest of the hotel trying to find the pool. it took the whole night

but we still didn't find it, so we took pictures at random places instead.

like this big orange couch we spotted near the spa.

since Excalibur, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay were all connected,

we made our way over to the other hotels too.

chilling with our man, Spongebob Squarepants, in the Excalibur Arcade!

and with the pharaohs of Luxor

Melissa likes to copy inanimate objects.

we took the tram also to explore the other hotels of Vegas.

saw a ceiling of different colored/shaped glass

and a large chocolate fountain.

we also went swimming in the pool (we finally found it)

it was like a beach! it had sand and even waves!

we also chilled in the lazy pool, with a current that pushed you around

so you didn't really have to swim. (staying still in that picture up there took

so much effort! because the current was pushing us)

We pretty much spent our nights walking around and exploring the hotels,

while occasionally stopping by Melissa's favorite hot dog place

to grab a pretzel dog & some coldstone ice cream that we would munch on

while talking about different topics for hours

'til we'd call it a night and head back.

i'm not a huge fan of long car rides.

Saturday, July 10

-swapmeet w/ my mom in the morning + ROC car wash fundraiser.

-got picked up after at 2:40 (practically an hour late -.-)

THANKS KIKI, GIZELLE, KALVIN, AND DONGJU FOR WAITING.

-stapled my slipper,which broke during the car wash.

-ended up at santa monica beach instead of venice beach.

-we were lost + it started raining. headed to venice anyways
-finally got there but couldn't walk cause my slipper broke again!
-April and Ron gave me piggy back rides
-Joanna bought me slippers, thanks joanna! <3

-saw a crowd so went to see what was going on. we saw:

-he was released from prison, found out he had a daughter &

is stepping up to the plate, sober from cocaine, & on America's Got Talent!

I really praise God for people with crazy stories like that.

I'm glad that he turned his life around for the better! ANYWAYS...

He pulled Joanna up to dance, along with a black, white, and latina girl.

walked around the bordwalk

so much art!

saw a two headed turtle!!!!!

we left and headed to Universal City Walk

-ate at Pink's Hot Dogs! shared a pastrami burrito dog

-saw a floor, with water that shoots up and people were running through.

-Ron ran through and slipped, the funniest thing ever

-got pushed into a bush by joanna by accident

-walked around until the end of City Walk

-went to yogurtland and chilled there for a bit

-went back to the car, fell asleep on the way back

-went to Santi's with April while everyone went to Joanna's.

-Santi dropped us home!

LOTS of cool gadgets and scientific thaangs,

like this ginormous tube that Joanna and I used to talk to each other.

And the webcam that made Ron look like he had a mustache

And this disc thing, where if you sit in the center and another person sits

on a similar disc on the opposite side of the room, you guys can whisper

but still hear each other!

experienced a simulated earthquake.

then we headed for the Ecosystem area!

saw a hiding turtle that wouldn't come out of its cave!

and a large aquarium

and also an underground tunnel aquarium!

JELLY FISH ARE SO PRETTY!

then Ron led a news report on tv while I took pictures.

and I caught Raffy's crazy side on camera!

After, we ate at Chipotle, went to Coldstone to visisted Angela and get ice cream,

then went to Mega Video, rented Hot Tub Time Machine, and chilled at Jan's.

watched a movie and part of other movies that we didn't finish
played the Impossible Game with Joanna, who got too carried away in the cherries part
Went to the restroom w/ Joanna only to find that everyone was gone when we came back
backed up against the wall in fear and argued with her on whether we should find them or stay
Raffy popped out of no where, scared Joanna & me to the point where we both dropped to the floor yelling. i admit it was pretty funny though :')
Ron wouldn't take us home! So Joanna and I tried to annoy him by: rapping, singing, dancing...
It finally paid off, and we went home around 12am. :]

June 27: Choir Bonding + Reyes's House

went to Church in the morning!
Pathfinder Park: choir bonding, jogging, exercising, and eating games.
hung out around the park for a bit, then headed to the Reyes's house
got attacked with a bunch of water balloons when we first got there.
the Reyes brothers, Lidia, Aljay, Ej, Cassie, Ate Aarika, Garrett, Brandee, Kiki, Dongju, Matt, Melissa and I were there.
"LOOK AT THE SATELLITE!" -a trick thought up by EJ to get Lidia (the only one not attacked by water balloons) to run outside in the backyard. Then they hosed her. :P
I got pranked pretty bad after with my new default facebook picture:

A week or so later, Ej brings a visitor, one of his friends, to church and as I first notice her and I'm about to say hi, I hear her whisper:

"is that the horse girl?"

we watched Preacher's Kid while everyone yelled at the television. we were so into the movie. :-)

Wednesday, June 30: Eclipse

didn't wake up for summer school this day!
chilled at home until around 12 when Joanna picked me up!
went to PHM and watched Eclipse!
"Cool story bro" // "I'm Switzerland!"// & "does he look fatter to you?"
Santi didn't understand a lot of the movie: "do vampires eat people?" // "why do they have to hunt? why can't they just buy a cow?"
hung out with Margiel's mom without Margiel :P then he met up with us
April almost dropped his camera, and we all spazzed out.
April's dad came and picked up April & me.

The day started off with summer school!

It was movie day & bring-your-own-food-and-share-it-with-all-your-friends-day!

no one ate my "crunch" donuts cause supposedly, it looked like chicken nuggets.

even Matt didn't eat my donuts, so I tortured him into eating one.

theeen it was off to the beach!

had some parking trouble, soo we took pictures! all the girls, take one.

take two!

when we finally got there, we all played in the waves for a bit.

But I got extremely distracted by these critters!

I ended up staying near the shore digging for them with Melissa...

...who was the only other person just as entertained and amazed as I was

by these sand crabs. =) we kept them in a glass bottle we found.

I was tired from all the digging, so I sat down on the sand, accompanied by

our glass bottle of sand crabs, a bottle of sweet tea, a bag of hot cheetoes,

...and some of my favorite people.

While others started coming back from the bathroom/showering,

a game of charades was going on with only

Margiel and Kathleen acting out scenes from movies.

Here's a bucket of sandcrabs, held by Lidia (who semi-conquered her fear of 'em) & April.

I got the others just as interested in sand crabs, after they had teased me for

being overly excited about finding them.

After chilling out in the sand for a bit, we decided to pack up.

We made our way to the Pier, where we

played in a hat stall, danced, sang, took pictures,

and just relaxed near the ocean.

Afterwards, we ate at McDonalds & chilled at Santi's house

'til about 12 AM. Then Santi dropped us all home (THANKYOU!!)

I love the beach!

I don't mind having summer school!

for the millionth time since summer school started =)

but first, I hung out a bit on campus with

then we headed off to April's to go swimming!

But most importantly, you have a God who knows you inside and out; a God who understands you even better than you understand yourself; a God who died so you can live. And He is the one who holds the future. SOO, don't trip potato chip! =)

Ultimate Park Game Day!

took place last Saturday, June 19th at creekside park!

with my cfbc family + friends at creekside park! :)

There was a lot of food to snack on.

And games! Like the water balloon toss!

{{there were other games too! like kite flying, volleyballs, and beach balls}}

and water guns...

...in which I got soaking wet.

but I got a chance to dry off playing Baseball!

or trying to play baseball..the only hit I got was a foul.

I had a good time chilling with you guys!

even when..

Yeong & Aljay planned to surprise attack me with their water guns
& even when Ron wet my whole right side with a water balloon
& even when I wasted my only water balloon (which I saved just to get back at him) by throwing it at Ron, only to have it bounce off and pop on the grass.
& even when Christine tried to kill me when I used her as a shield from the water guns.

love you guys!

and what better way to end the night

than having one of your closest friends sleep over!

it's been pretty relaxing =)

random bullets about my summer so far (in no order):

listening to some soulful speeches by Lauryn Hill & realizing how amazing and real she is.
summer school = easy work = a whole lot of free time for reading some of my favorite books! yaay!
IN-N-OUT with Ate Aarika & Lidia. cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and talks about the future musicals for CFBC! so excited!!!!
I'm a red head now!!!! with much thanks to RJ, the master hairstylist/chef. it's not a drastic change but I love it!
watching Boys Over Flowers at April's house, heheh. K-FEVER.
first infusion practice of the year! learned the song Hound Dog.
LAKERS WON THE CHAPIONSHIP! (I'll admit I didn't get to watch it though. I fell asleep and woke up during the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. I have no idea how my dad's yells did not wake me up)

I got to hear the amazing testimony of
Sarah Balabagan

At the age of 14, she worked as a domestic helper.
When her boss attempted to rape her at knife-point, she overpowered him.
{{just picture a fourteen year old girl fighting a middle aged, bulky man}}
Out of self-defense, she killed him with the knife he was using against her.
As a result, she was imprisoned with the death sentence to a firing squad.
BUT, her sentence was changed to 5 years in prison, with 100 lashes.
She returned to the Philippines, where she was founded by a recording artist.
He shared to her the love of Christ, and she accepted Him into her life :-)

June 10, 2010: first adventure of the summer!

GALSTER PARK! (after we stopped to get some Taco Bell..nomnomnom)

adventure partners: angela, april, aljay, margiel, gelo, james, angelo, jacob, ashley.

Galster Park is known to be one of the most haunted places near this area.

But I WASN'T SCARED!

But this thing scared me though. I thought it was a spider.

Oh, and the bee hive in this old, worn-down bathroom scared me too.

James is a brave one!

there were so many bees EVERYWHERE..

the hike up there was T-I-R-I-N-G, but it was a beaut.

I was glad to finally sit and rest! We found a rollie pollie that we named Lolo

Then Angelo killed him by treating him like a hackeysack.

I woke up REMEMBERING that finals were starting on that day, but for some reason I forgot that starting finals meant having a different schedule. I remembered the different schedule when my dad was driving me to school, and I was wondering why the school looked so empty.

Consequently, I was at school more than an hour early.
with no one else there.

BUUUT, April Valentin recently moved near the school
so I called her up and she let me over =)

On the way out, I ran into this guy! =)
he was headed to April's house too.

I was so shocked and so happy to have ran into a friend.

Apparently, my facial expression in running into him
was hilarious cause he cracked up.

we got to April's house, & I tried making Ramen.

April had to help me cause I didn't know how to use her stove. Too many knobs. I ran out of the picture that Angela was taking cause I got embarrassed,
but she still got part of me. oh well!

Anyways, April, Matt, Angela, and I just chilled at April's house for around an hour until school started =) Then we made our way to RHS. the rest of the week was pretty chill. I didn't have many finals to study for anymore.

Pop show was GREAT :)

took place @ RHS in the hideout. thurs, fri, and sat at 7PM. (May 27-May 29)

We had practices the mon, tues, & weds before Pop Show

until like 8PM. dinner breaks were usually spent with:

Joy, Tricia, Justin, Dongju, and me.

we made Dongju and Dazon wait for us to get ready cause they came too early.

Apparently, Dazon forgot I was filipino until he heard me speaking tagalog.

we took pictures in the house across from mine because my mom made us.

we went to west co mall to take pictures!

then headed to Ashley Park's house to take more pictures.

Momma's Day

was spent a little differently this year. ): I was supposed to go out with her and spend some quality mother-daughter time! But she told me she had allergies and didn't want to do anything anymore. She just told me to go out and buy her something. HAHA, sooo I did! I did some prom shopping too while I was at it.

went to West Co Mall. Dongju tagged along.
didn't find anything for prom though. oh well!
ran around trying to find my mom's ideal shirt without even being sure if it existed
FOUND ONE EXACTLY LIKE IT! YES!
bought it, and headed out
went to Denny's to eat
Dad got into a debate about boxing with a random guy sitting behind us.
that random guy turned out to be one of my old confirmation teachers! small world!
my old teacher wanted to make a bet (although he said he wasn't a "betting type of guy").
BUT, my dad didn't place a bet (thankfully) !
went home and gave my mom her shirt annnd she loved it!
realized that I had a shirt exactly like it, but in a different color.

I can match with my mom!

"mom, you can't see my eyes! why are they so small?"

"I don't know anymore.."

Although I am sad that most of the day was spent without her, I truly am blessed to have such an amazing mom. So, PTL for a momma who has sacrificed soo much for me and continually shows me unconditional love! :-)

On April 30th, I got free park hopper tickets to go to...

disneyland!

...with Rowland Organization of Choirs :-)

I don't have a lot of pictures. to sum everything up: left for dland around lunchtime, got on the bus & realized that we left all the tickets at school, someone drove to dland to give it to us, hung out originally with Lidia, Matt, Erica, Kiki, and Kalvin, went to get birthday pins: "twin day", Matt and I talked to this cool employee who gave us two free fast passes good for up to six people, harmonizing our thank-yous (except me..I just yelled "THANKS!" at the end), kiki's lvl 9 score on astroblasters, dancing with a cowboy, ugly laughs, Dongju/Cheyenne/Brandee meeting up with us, getting Kalvin a "mastir" pin, free tortillas, going to CA adventures, going to the bus early to knock out! :)

"Can you come outside?"//West Co Mall

So, on a thursday about three weeks back (04/22/10), I was laying in my room, talking on the phone with JKM around 10PM, when I got a second call asking "can you come outside?".

I quickly hung up, threw on a hoodie and my moccasins, passed by my mom in the living room (who, by the way, was giving me this weird grin), and walked outside.

I couldn't see much as it was dark when I went out, but I noticed candles flickering at the bottom of the stairs that led to my house. I walked downstairs & found that they formed a candle-lit pathway. I followed the pathway into the street, and it ended in a big heart with the words: PROM?
(all done in candles).

"Will you go to prom with me?"

Haha, he was even dressed in a tux and had flowers.

my answer? yes. :-)

Turns out, my parents were in on it. That explains why my mom kept grinning at me and my dad was eying me suspiciously (I assured him after that he was just a friend). Then, I went inside and called back JKM, who by this time, was spamming me with texts trying to figure out what happened.

I'm pretty excited to be going to prom with one of my closest guy friends AND one of my closest girl friends.
(Melissa Huynh and her date will be accompanying my date and me at RHS prom)

Sooo, this past Saturday, Alfred picked me up, picked up Elvis, stopped by Melissa's house so I could pick up her date passes and prom $$, then went home and sped off to West Co. mall with Joanna Pantig for some speed-shopping for prom!

TM Dance Workshops + Sleepover

This past Saturday, I went to $1 dance day at TM with RJ and EJ, and also saw April, Lidia, Ron, Margiel, Kathleen, and Joanna. I took hip hop by Toby Vu and intermediate hip hop by Kenny Jones. I'm horrible at dancing. I realized that when I couldn't keep up with the second class. but I loved it :-) And I definitely want to get better.

After, RJ dropped me off @ home & I waited for Melissa to come over.

She came around 8:30ish, and brought me sweet tea! Thanks Melitha!

She slept over, and we took a bunch of pictures, read Mere Christianity, talked about how we were doing, had embarrassing moments (awkward moment #9), watched Melissa put curlers on,

and watched What I Like About You ("he's cute"). I couldn't fall asleep cause of the sweet tea though, so I ended up knocking out at 2 or 3am. But that was also partly because Melissa and I were reading. Overall, it was a great day! (: We woke up the next morning and got ready for church. We stopped by to get some breakfast at MickeyD's though! And then spent the rest of the car ride talking about history and politics with my pops.

Dad: There's a library in Yorbalinda! Nixon's Library.

Melissa: That's where my prom is!!

I was supposed to have discipleship with Ate Aarika & Lidia after school, but Lidia couldn't go so it got pushed back.
Didn't have a ride anywhere anymore since discipleship got cancelled, so Gary said he would take me home since he was going to pick up Dongju after school to eat out. I ended up going with them to eat.
We went to Dongju's parent's restaurant. :-) Good stuff!
I asked to go home afterwards, but they took me to this karaoke place instead.
I sat there for awhile cause I didn't want to sing, but I ended up singing anyways.
Tam and Tricia came!
Went home afterwards. fun day!

Musical Practice! After we finished, I stayed for the longest time just dancing and singing with Margiel and Chelsea (who showed up to chill for a bit), the Reyes brothers, Melissa, Ate Aarika, and Cassie!
Learned a routine for the Rumor Mill, done by OP.
Tried to do a cover with Eric (fail).

Eric taught a song to Melissa and me. I don't know what it was called, but the lyrics are:

Went to Pastor Ed's house after! Sang some more. HAHAH! I even missed out on watching Blind Side with everyone cause I didn't want to stop singing and learning harmonies (or trying to learn).
When Eric's phone vibrates, it plays the musical note C. I wasn't really that amazed, but Eric was.
We ended up making a bit of our own song after singing p & w songs. :P
Ate Melody took me home (after we got taco bell though)!

FRIDAY, April 16th

2010 Choir Auditions

April 13-15

Day 1- Open auditions, sang Billionaire. Embarrassing moments :-( Had to use the bathroom really bad so I rushed out after I word vomited that I had to pee outloud. Hahah oops..
Day 2 - Learned the dance routine to show Vincent! Learned an extra hip hop routine just for fun.
Day 3 - Vincent came. Performed it for him once and messed up really badly. Got called back in and performed it again. Then got called back a third time with a whole bunch of people.

It was pretty scary cause I think I get pretty bad stage-fright sometimes. But PTL God got me through it. I was pretty anxious about which choir I'd make but I'm really glad God gave me friends to encourage me and remind me that wherever I end up is where God wants me to be.

I ended up making Infusion. :-) hooray!

Monday 4/5: Spontaneous JKMK trip! a few pictures.

Tuesday 4/6: Hometown buffet with my parents, then went home and cleaned.

Wednesday 4/7: Stayed home until around 9pmish. Went out to get kogi with Kathleen and Joanna.

Thursday 4/8: Discipleship, water balloon fights, pastor ed's house, planning for the surprise party!

Friday 4/9: Melissa's house, CFBC, Bhianne's for the Surprise Appreciation Party!

Saturday 4/10: Jeremy's birthday! Ate out at Salo-Salo, then Santi picked me up and we went to an art showcase in pomona. Ate at Yoshinoya. Went to Santi's house after and danced until they dropped me home.

Sunday 4/11: I didn't go to church cause I didn't wake up.. :( I did homework the whole day.

For the CFBC Youth Leaders. Because you guys are a huge blessing and we wanted you to know that. :-)

Soo, I woke up and rushed to this chica's house to make the PTL poster with her! We started after awhile though because we were busy making videos like these:

After we finished, we ate some homemade carrot {cup}cakes baked by Melissa's mom! Thanks Mrs. Huynh! I took two home with me ;)

I was munching on the carrot cakes while Melissa got ready. We left for church and hid the poster before going inside. Then we left early to set up at Bhianne's house. I don't have a picture of us surprising them because I was busy hiding behind the couch holding down balloons (Bhianne's old happy birthday balloons LOL).

Well, surprising them was a success for the most part! Kuya Buzz knew cause someone spilled the beans! And Ate Aarika walked in when all the youth ran inside and rushed to hide. She stood in the dark, in the middle of everyone rushing to find a hiding spot, and looked TOTALLY confused. Apparently, she thought it was a birthday surprise party so she was confused when we all shot up and yelled surprise for the youth leaders. Oh, and we all got them to walk in at the same time too by getting the youth to stall whoever was driving them there.

Rj: *parks car, about to get out*

Chelsea: NO!! ....YOU CAN'T GO OUT YET.

Rj: why not?!

Chelsea: uhh...

Aljay: I have to talk to you.

Then everyone went into the living room to watch the video we made for them. :) My part was a FAIL because the background music ended up overpowering my voice so halfway through my speech was just my face talking without hearing the actual words coming out of my mouth.

We had lots of food. Thanks Mrs. Cabasal!

to the youth: don't forget to pay EJ $7 bucks

so we can pay back his momma!

Ended the night with mainly everyone just chilling in the room and playing music (as usual) :P

SURPRISING THEM = SUCCESS!
But I hope that getting our message across was also a success. You guys really are a blessing to us and I know we don't always show that we're thankful, but I can say on my part that I really am grateful for you guys (your prayers, encouragements, helping us through trials, bearing our burdens, rebukes, pointing us to Christ, showing His love through your life, rides to and from places, spotting us $$, and SO much more)!

I woke up to this text from Ate Aarika:

I'm leaving my house around ten so give it like 1/2 hour. dress code: wear something comfortable. something you don't mind getting dirty in. and do NOT wear white. => see you soon!

I was so confused, but I got up and got ready for our discipleship. she picked Lidia and me up and we ate out at hometown buffet and talked there :) then we stopped by pastor ed's house where pastor ed rejected my not-even-sent facebook request.

Pastor Ed{speaking to Lidia}: do you have a facebook?
Lidia: yeah!
Pastor Ed: we can add each other
me: pastor ed, i have a facebook! we can be friends on it too!
Pastor Ed: no.

HAHAH oh well. No hard feelings! Afterwards, we went to Creekside park and Ate Aarika told us to close our eyes and hold out our hands. Then she placed a water balloon in each of our hands and then said: "The only rule is to..RUN!". I started running and yelling cause water balloons were hitting me. I didn't know I could open my eyes and throw the balloon (so I was protecting it while I ran) because she said the only rule was to run. When I opened my eyes, I saw everyone else with their eyes open, throwing their water balloons, while grabbing more in a ginormous bucket. I ended up getting the most wet cause Lidia threw hers at me.

Afterwards, we went back to Pastor Eds to chill. We made more water balloons and threw them at each other, and made videos, and took pictures until I went home around 4. :)

Today,I was supposed to go to the beach for April's birthday, but I couldn't make it anymore cause of the tsunami watch. I realized today that a lot of my friends know where I live. When I said I couldn't go to the beach, Ron threatened to pick me up anyways but I insisted that I couldn't go.

Ron: I'm picking you up at 5
Me: WHAT?! where are we going?
Ron: We're going...bowling. I'm picking you up!
Me: LIAR YOU GUYS ARE STILL GOING TO THE BEACH! I'm not going! I can't go!
Ron: We're picking you up!

WEELLL, Ron listened :-) Then Kathleen threatened to show up at my house cause she wanted to hang out and I insisted she didn't.

Kathleen:
LOLZ let's hang out! I'm picking you up and we are going on a date.

Me: NO, kinda lazy now LOL. if you show up I'm gonna be mad. I'm such a bum right now.
Kathleen: I'm coming around 7:30.

SOOO, Kathleen spontaneously showed up in my front yard. I ended up running to my room, throwing on sweats and a hoodie, and rushed out.

Then we went with Melissa and Joanna [last minute also] to Yes Plaza for some Banana Bay and we had some reeally good talks there about how we were doing, our struggles, and our doubts. I realized that when one of us struggles, it influences the rest of us and it really does hurt to see that. buut I loved how it was just like old times again! Apologies were made and new inside jokes were made too.

Then April, Ron, Raffy, Jan, Jade, John, Cristine, Julliene, Chelsea, Margiel, Moochie, Angela, and James met up with us at Banana Bay. :) I also ran into Jerel when JKMK headed out to the arcade where I tried [and failed] to win an Ipad. After Banana Bay, some of us headed to Cristine's house and just chilled in her room until it was time to go home.

Christ saves. :-)

ptL, Jesus is raised from the dead. Such a great day. <3 Celebrated it with some of my church family at Kuya Alex's house. We watched Taken and made jokes about how if that ever happened to me and Kuya Alex had to save me, he wouldn't even make it out of LAX. "90 hours later..you're still at the airport with only six hours left". HAHAH!

Kuya Alex: I'm sorry Kristine! I can't do that...DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS. I can't save you.

Kuya Mike: I can! I'm deadly with a gun...have you seen my score on astroblasters?

I don't think I've ever laughed so hard. There was an earthquake today too, but it moved really slow and I wasn't even sure it was an earthquake at first. I thought that it was just me getting lightheaded and about to faint because I looked around at everyone else and they seemed normal until Derek yells out "ALJAY STOP KICKING MY CHAIR" and Aljay said back "I'm not!". That's when we all realized it was an earthquake. Hahah! After Taken, we walked to the park {{Kuya Mike, Kuya Alex, Ej, Derek, Aljay, and me}}. While they played tennis, I invented a game with a tennis ball where you throw it reeeeally high in the air, wait for it to bounce, and then see how many times you can pass under the ball without getting hit by it. I got Aljay and Derek playing it too. We eventually named it KJD after my initials LOL. I got dropped off home around 7.

Musical Practice

TODAY I:

had musical practice again (from 2pm-6pm) after a loong while for the Acts of Faith musical since Pastor Ed wants us to perform it again for the church anniversary.
had fun dancing and singing and completely messing up (my fail attempt at yelling at Lidia) but just laughing about it all afterwards with friends. :)
planned to go to boiling crab, but decided not to.
went to get to go Class 302.
went to Happy Wok with Amy, Ate Melody, Rj, Ej, and Aljay.
got dropped off at home. :-)

Going through the script again just reminded me that these things aren't just made up circumstances that these musical characters go through but real life struggles that we face. This musical has been a huge blessing in my life because I have grown closer to people through it and just the messages presented in it cause after the first two performances, when I thought that we were finished with this musical, I found myself in so many similar situations and I ended up replaying musical lines in my head.

Often times, I found myself turning back to the Lay it Down scene and going through the lyrics in my head. Man, this musical is just a huge blessing from the things I've learned through it to the closer relationships that I've gained from it.

I always have an adventure with Melissa! Today we had to deal with hot & steaming water from the bathroom faucets + soapy hands. It was pretty intense if you were there to see it :P
Finally home! :-)

Thirty-nine lashes left little flesh intact. He heaves with his breath up and down against the rough vertical beam of the cross. Each breath puts splinters into the lacerations. The Lord gasps. From time to time he screams out with intolerable pain. He tries to pull away from the wood and the massive spokes through his wrist rip into the nerve endings and he screams again with agony and pushes up with his feet to give some relief to his wrists. But the bones and nerves in his pierced feet crush against each other with anguish and he screams again. There is no relief. His throat is raw from screaming and thirst. He loses his breath and thinks he is suffocating, and suddenly his body involuntarily gasps for air and all the injuries unite in pain. In torment, he forgets about the crown of two-inch thorns and throws his head back in desperation, only to hit one of the thorns perpendicular against the cross beam and drive it half an inch into his skull. His voice reaches a soprano pitch of pain and sobs break over his pain-wracked body as every cry brings more and more pain.

ptL that Christ died on the cross for our sins cause I screwed up A LOT this whole year. I was unmotivated, unloving, selfish, and had quite a few mistakes and regrets BUT…

MATTHEW 9:2 ” -…Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven”.

I don’t need to dwell on things anymore, and heey! no more regrets cause I learn more and grow stronger from it.

Prayers of my <3:

stop with the selfishness.
love with selflessness (just like Christ showed us on the cross).
love everyone, especially the hard-to-love (everyone needs love!).

Afterwards, Ate Aarika picked Lidia and me out and we went to hometown buffet and talked about our lives :) Then we went to Creekside park and met up with Melissa, Amy, Ate Melody, and Rj and we danced a little and played volleyball.

Yeah, we can't really play volleyball well.

Friday, March 26th : FULLERTON JAZZ FESTIVAL

Previous two competitions were FUN! but Charisma either got last place or did not place! snapshots of old competitions:

Fullerton Jazz Festival:

ran into RJ and Ate Aarika there! :) And Kuya Ryan and Ate Faye too! And Eric Lin, Alyssa Navarro, Dean Truong?? (I could never spell his last name..), Raffy Flor, Tj Onias, Danika Tibayan and other friends! it was fun.

oh, and Kiki's motivation worked! :D "Charisma will not get last! Charisma will not get last!" Charisma got FIRST PLACE :D AND INFUSION! Good job ROC! :3

Afterwards, chilled around with Tricia and Justin. We ate out at Mcdonalds, and then went on the 4'clock bus. KNOCKED OUT. Then when we got to school, we chilled around in the parking lot, then stopped by Justin's house. Tricia broke the wall with her car. LOL, then we went to Tricia's house. Then I went to CJ's house, then went home and fell asleep because ROC carwash was the following day!

I've been so slow on updating maybe cause I've felt so unmotivated lately, but I think this lackadaisical period is over!!! It's so comforting to me when I remind myself that everything I'm going through has a purpose behind it and I realized that even though 2010 started off pretty tough, I feel glad because trials produce endurance and growth. "Our greatest strength comes from our greatest pain." And even as cliche as it sounds, we really wouldn't appreciate the good things without the bad! Every trial is an opportunity to learn. I love it :)

God's so real; I can't help but believe when I look around at this intricate world. Someone has to be behind it all. And knowing that life really does have a purpose just makes me want to run around and live life without fear cause of the assurance that its ALL in God's hands.

SATURDAY 2/27 - THE CRAZIES

Went to PHM and went to watch The Crazies. INTENSE MOVIE! Ending kinda sucked. But I liked the craziness :)

TJ picked Dongju and me up and we went to that little asian area near Banana Bay! I LOVE THE ARCADE. I used two dollars trying to win a domo but I failed :( Oh and Charlie Brown was great!

GOOD JOB CAST!!

Afterwards, we hung outside for awhile and took pictures.

BAHAHA I look like I hate Lidia.

Then we went to Banana Bay after and ate while we partied with the live band! HAHA, we were so loud but it was fun singing along! Then went back to the arcade, but I had no more money to try again on the machines. Afterwards, TJ took me home (thanks TJ).

WEDNESDAY - 2/24

Lidia's surprise party! :) It was meant for the day before, but Lidia cancelled on hanging out that day for discipleship so we had to switch it to wednesday.

Anyways, we hung out afterschool and Ate Aarika texted me saying she was in the parking lot. I went to my locker to get the card that I stuffed in there for Lidia (it ripped a little cause it was too big for my locker) and then ran to the parking lot to hide in her car. I made justin go along with me :] thanks papa bear.

Then I went back and told Lidia that our ride was there so we left and headed to Panda Express. We ate and talked about what we're afraid of and just some struggles we have at the moment. It was GREAT and I'm SUPER excited for this! :D

Then we went to Baskin Robins to get the "house warming cake" for the Barrett's new house! Ate Aarika tricked Lidia into "helping her pick out a cake" and Lidia told us this one cake looked really good, so that's the one she got. Then, we went to the car to wait there and Ate Aarika got Lidia's name on the cake.

She handed me the cake wrapped in a bag that was poorly taped shut. While we were driving to the Barrett's residence, I was staring out the window singing, and then I hear rustling and feel the bag move. I looked over at Lidia as she was slowly closing the bag that the cake was in shut. Her eyes were huge and I started to panic on the inside but gave a confused face to Lidia to pretend that I didn't know. Her eyes were SO BIG in reading her name on the cake so I knew she suspected something. Then I texted Ate Aarika while she was driving to confuse Lidia, which she did by telling her Kuya Caleb's sister was also named Lidia with an I.

FAIL - SURPRISE PARTY. Lidia still suspected something even though she was confused. I CAN NEVER SURPRISE HER! Daaarn :( Oh well. We all ate pizza and cake at the Barrett's and then I went home around 8. :) It was still a good, yet tiring night!

MONDAY - 2/22 HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIDIA

Walked to meet up with Margiel after school.

He surprised Lidia with a Mirotic poster. LOL!

Stayed with Margiel when Lidia left cause he offered to take me home.

we ended up walking to dolphin bay. I spy Kristin!

SUNDAY 2/21

Day before Lidia de Leon's birthday. I'm a procrastinator on her presents. Hahah. Went to church in the morning wearing clothes meant for summer (cause I woke up seeing the sun) only to find that it was drizzling in Covina. Hahah wooops! After church, I went with Ate Aarika to visit E.J. at the hospital. When it was Melissa and my turn to visit E.J., we took the visitor passes and stopped in the hallway to write a letter of encouragement to him. Then we attempted to make our way to his room, which took two tries because we went in a circle the first time and ended up back at the waiting room. The second time, we made it to the elevator but we went on the wrong floor. All this time, I'm scribbling notes on EJ's note about my adventure in finding his room. After awhile, we finally made it and we handed him the letter. I didn't know laughter was painful to him though, so sorry about the letter! HAHA.

Anyways, I went back downstairs with Melissa, Aljay, Eric, and Garrett, and we met up with everyone else and planned a surprise party for Lidia. I tore off pages from my notebook and made everyone write a letter to her. Then Andrew and Aljay and I ventured off to target to buy supplies to make her card. We brainstormed at El Pollo Loco, and I called people to get them to help me out by spreading the word to send me letters. Finally got home, finished homework, worked on her card and finished it (since her bday was the next day), and then went to Albertsons to buy her some balloons. I only had money for the cheap ones..and none of the cheap ones said happy birthday except one, but it said "BIRTHDAY BOY". It was either that balloon or "Happy Retirement", so I went with the birthday boy one cause I figured it was nicer. I wanted to be nice this time cause I'm mean to her on a daily basis :)

Then I went home and KNOCKED OUT!

SATURDAY 2/20 - Shutter Island

I went to PHM and watched Shutter Island! :) It was a pretty good movie, but I predicted the ending halfway. I still liked it though! I sat in between two koreans (margiel and angelo). All they did was compare korean pictures on their zunes and iphones. "TAG, YOU'RE IT".

oh and I got my ears pierced (before watching the movie) with JPANTIES :) My face is all scrunched up when they pierced it. it hurt. ahaha.

Then walked to Guppy House and Taco Bell & ate.

We took the bus and fought over whether we would go to Galster Park and whether or not Ron was scared.

We decided to walk to Galster Park.

It started to drizzle but I had my duck umbrella >:]

"That's the gate where the dead boy pops up". I started to get scared when we got near there. THANKFULLY, it was closed and I ran downhill cause I was scared (margiel wagas captured me running down the hill). Hahah. What an adventure-fail!

Ended up going to Angelo's. Met his evil dog, Travis, who only likes Ron. Everyone was watching some scary show but I ended up stomach wrestling with Margiel's head. Good day :)

ACTS OF FAITH MUSICAL

Friday, Feb. 12th - Saturday, Feb. 13th

This musical was in so many ways a blessing! ptL for Ate Aarika, just for the patience she's had in directing it, and for her God-given talent of writing the script!). OH, and also for always picking me up, even when I call last minute (like today..sorry). LOVE YOU! :-)

FIRST PERFORMANCE: Woke up early, rushed to school 'cause I was running late trying to figure out my costume change. Ended up bringing a plastic bag w/ a few outfits that I grabbed & stuffed in there. Valentine's day grams were everywhere that day! Got some surprise gifts (link). Got picked up by Andrew. Got to Sonrise School, calltime: 4pm. set up, went to mickeyd's w/ the Hernandez sisters, ate a bit, ran lines. show started: 6:30pm!

mistakes: forgetting lines, messing up solos, unexpected fog machine (LOL, MELISSA! "I thought something was burning!"), and etc., but it all turned out good! :) Felt a bit discouraged afterwards, but I PTL for friends like Eric Reyes, Kathleen, Melissa, & Margiel that talked to me about it after! Thanks for the encouragements/reminders! IN-N-OUT hang out afterwards where I took some "uhljjang" pictures :)

THANKS April, Angela, Chelsea, Ron A., John Santos, James, Jan, Margiel, Gelo, Duke, Raffy, Ariane, and others (I know I'm leaving out a whole bunch of names, sorry!) for coming :)

SECOND PERFORMANCE: Calltime was at 3:30. I got picked up by Andrew again, and then got to Sonrise. All the girls stayed with Ate Aarika and we talked over what went wrong in the previous performances, while the boys set up. Afterwards, the girls joined them in helping set up. A whole bunch of people started coming (including my choir teacher) so I started to get super nervous, but Pastor Ed talked to the group before we started.

You may not be the best, but keep giving your best for God!

First act went well, but during intermission, I went out, saw how many people were there, & got nervous all over again. I went backstage again & Eric, Ej, and RJ all reminded me who I was doing the musical for. :) I love my familia in Christ!! I prayed w/ some of them. Started the second act, & although my solo didn't go so well, I gave my best! :) Denny's afterwards: Spicy Buffalo Sandwich (bad idea), arm wrestling (Ej vs. Dongju, Kathleen vs. me), sugar packets, ranch dressing that Dongju went inside the kitchen to get (LOL), and Lidia & her toilet incident. ;) Oh and I made up with a friend! What a great day!

THANKS Gizelle, Kiki, Matt, Kristin, Alfred, Danial, Dongju, Justin, Gary, T.J., Chan & other people from T.J.'s church, and Mrs. Sampson for coming!

But one thing I pray for is that people were able to hear the message through this musical 'cause its for Christ that we did this; it was to show how even though the Christian life isn't easy, we have experienced Christ's life-changing love (link), and that it's HIM that gives us hope!

How there may be so many burdens that we have on our shoulders, but we have forgiveness in Christ, so "why beat yourself up with the things of the past, when you could lay it down?".

How even when we give our burdens to God, we may feel like God isn't there for us, but we have to have faith that he's going to answer our prayers in his own time and in his own way if we "only believe" because without faith, it is impossible to please Him.

How we may feel so alone at times, but God lets us know that we aren't alone through sending us comfort not through some type of miraculous sign coming down from the heavens, but by blessing us with friends that are able to comfort you, bear your burdens, and stand by you in times of need, presented in the scene"I will be your friend".

How we should proclaim our faith by being proud of having an all powerful God who IS real. We should be proud to be a "Christian".

How Christ came down to earth and no one knew that his "Secret Ambition was to give his life away" as a ransom for our sins so that we may be reconciled with God.

And because of all these things, I can be confident that "My Faith Will Stay". Though there will be times when our faiths will grow fast, and times where our faith will grow slow, through it all, our faith will stay :)

BLESSED WITH AN AWESOME CHURCH FAMILY!

Well, I'll try to update as much as I remember, but it will be bulleted as I've forgotten a lot of what's happened already, but I still want to record what's happened incase I look back on it. :) I haven't blogged ever since the beginning of 2010, and already it's been a trying year. But ptL cause with these trials comes growth.

finals week, staying after school on that one wednesday for like four hours with Lidia + a few other people because we didn't have a ride.
Trial of Humanity vs. Eve English Final = success! :)
walking to Margiel's house after church and watching Boys Over Flowers (korean drama)
crazy, rainy weather = lockdown at school for the "hurricane watch".
getting really sick + passing out (x2) during finals week
rumor + anonymous formspring drama
Lidia coming over = not buying food at mcdonalds and then eating my mcchicken when I walk out of my room + pictures + kpop + You're Beautiful (korean drama) + ABDC + accidentally pasting something on AIM
argument with a close friend = awkwardness for awhile
argument with another friend = awkwardness for awhile also
tried to make up with that close friend = didn't work
eventually got to talk it out, forgave one another! :)
apologized to my other friend, needed to work up that humility! made up also :)
